The Meaning Of Ghigau
A Construction Company Built on Heritage & Leadership
Ghigau Construction takes its name from a Cherokee title that represents strength, wisdom, and leadership. The word Ghigau refers to a Beloved Woman or War Woman, a respected community leader who earns her role through wisdom and responsibility. For owner Jenn Lewis, the name reflects both heritage and purpose. Raised with strong Native traditions and inspired by her mother, Carol's example, Jenn built her company around the values of integrity, accountability, and respect for the people she serves. Those values shape how every renovation project is approached. Instead of treating construction as a transactional service, Ghigau Construction focuses on building trust through communication and collaboration. Clients work directly with a leader who values listening before responding and guiding projects with clarity from beginning to completion.

Ghigau Construction:
(pronounced: heh-go)
Meaning: "Ghigau" is a Cherokee prestigious title meaning "beloved woman" or "war woman". The title was a recognition of great honor for women who made a significant impact within their community or exhibited great heroism on the battlefield. When a woman was bestowed as a "Ghigau" she was given great honor and responsibility. The role has changed in Cherokee culture, but the Eastern Band of Cherokee Native Americans, still have Beloved Women today.
